TOWNS & REGIONS - SOUTH EAST
This region of Martinique is widely regarded as having some of the best beaches in Martinique, if not the whole of the Caribbean.
Sainte-Luce
This is a pretty fishing village surrounded by several small beaches of white sand. You can see the rocks carved by the Carib Indians in the Montravail Rainforest, which has been specially prepared to receive visitors.
If you are not going up to see some of the distilleries further north, then you could visit the Trois-Rivières distillery just off the N5 (direction Fort-de-France). The beach at Anse Mabouyas is an excellent place to take a swim. The beach offers excellent snorkelling with a view of the Diamond Rock.

Le Marin
Le Marin is one of the two sub-prefectures on the island. The recent economic and commercial development here is the result of the decentralisation policy. The church was built in Jesuit style and dates back to 1766 and is one of the most beautiful historic monuments in Martinique. Yachtsmen know the bay as the best mooring spot on the island and it as reputed to be one of the largest non-commercial marinas in France.
Cap Macré is a stunning beach found on the Atlantic coast down a small and un-surfaced road off the D39 (direction Sainte-Anne). It may take you 10 minutes to arrive at this beach from the D39.

Sainte-Anne
This is a pretty little region at the far southern end of the island and is home to the best beaches in Martinique. There are several headlands, coves and capes with beautiful white sandy beaches. The most famous of which is Les Salines, which was mentioned as one of the best three beaches in the West Indies by Lonely Planet and often regarded as the best in Martinique.
If you are looking for a quieter beach, Anse Michel is situated on the Atlantic Coast. The sea is protected by a reef which offers excellent snorkelling and canoeing opportunities. A 2 person kayak can be rented for 14 euros for 2 hours. This will allow you to explore some the stunning islets off the coast. When you arrive at the parking for Anse Michel, you will have to walk onto the first beach and to your right around the rocks to arrive on this beach. If you wish to stop for lunch you will be allowed to park in the restaurant car park, which is located just behind this beach (Le Paradisio).

Anse Trabaud is also worth visiting. It is found off the beaten track along the Atlantic coast of the Sainte-Anne region.
